A British Summer Holiday

Are you holidaying in England this summer? You want to escape the monotony of every day life but the thought of a dwindling pound is forcing you to re think going away to foreign climes and the news that this summer is going to be a scorcher has also spurred you on to stay in the country, why not visit Yorkshire?
Yorkshire is the largest county in Great Britain.  Offering visitors a range of activities to keep you entertained through out your break.  Something for everyone could be found.

If you fancy exhilaration then why not jump on a jet ski and take to the waters of Fosse Hill Lake in East Yorkshire or go surfing along the Yorkshire’s jigsaw coastline.  Maybe that’s a bit too much for the people who want to find peace and tranquillity, how about a nice walk along one of the canals and waterways or hire a canoe or canal boat and gently cruise merrily, stopping for a spot of lunch at a pub nearby.

Water based activities may not be your thing, why not take to the air, gliding across the York Moors and Dales. Why not learn to pilot a glider yourself? Still airborne, why not take in the sites of Yorkshire from a basket in the sky, ballooning above York Minster could be up your street.  Air raising activity might not feel you with confidence, if you are a couple who choose to come along without the children or just fancy getting away for a few days, there is an opportunity to hire out a classic car for the weekend, champagne and strawberries in the boot, countryside that stretches for miles and a sunny day!

Family fun isn’t hard to find either,  firstly why not visit Keighley and Worth railway made famous for it’s role in the Railway Children and take a 5 mile steam ride on the locomotive. Or swing through the trees at Dalby Forest, or visit the UK’s largest privately owned zoo which homes many exotic species.  There is also York Maze if you fancy loosing yourself for a few hours.  If the weather isn’t what you were expecting then stay indoors, there are many sheltered attractions too.  In Hull you can go back to the Jurassic age, visiting the Dinosaur Experience. Staying in Hull is the one of the world’s most spectacular aquariums which is home to over 40 sharks and 3500+ fish.  With so many attractions in and out all over Yorkshire you should find something to entertain the whole family.

Marrakech Golf Holidays

Marrakech Golf Holidays

Marrakech is a very popular destination for golfers from all over the world. There are several excellent world-class golf courses in the city that offer exceptional rounds. Moreover, the climate in Marrakech is ideal for golfing and for holidays and the natural environment is absolutely outstanding, with exotic vegetation and the incomparable setting of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the background.

There are three main golf courses in Marrakech: the Royal Golf de Marrakech, the Palmeraie Golf Palace and the Golf d’Amelkis, each with different characteristics, histories and services.

The Royal Golf de Marrakech is the oldest and most renowned golf course in Marrakech and one of the best in the whole continent. It is located on the Old Road to Ouarzazate and consists of 27 holes, with a 72 par, and a total of 6.086 meters.

This golf course was built in the 1920s by the Pasha of Marrakech and is one of the oldest in the country. It has welcomed many celebrities, such as Winston Churchill, David Lloyd Weber or Ike Eisenhower. Its beauty is absolutely astounding, with a perfect view of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and abounding in cypress trees, eucalyptus, palm, olive, orange and apricot trees.

The Royal Golf de Marrakech offers three rounds: the Ménara, 3.072 meters long and with a 36 par, was inaugurated in May 2008 and is worthy of the greatest golf courses in the world; the Koutoubia has 3.014 meters, and the Agdal, 2.939 meters. The course also offers a club-house and a snack-bar.

The Palmeraie Golf Palace, located within the Palmeraie Gardens, consists of 18 holes, with a 72 par and a total length of 6.214 meters. This course is a true work of art designed by the internationally renowned architect Robert Trent Jones on an airy valley, planted with thousands of palm trees and brightened up with seven lakes.

The course offers numerous exciting and challenging sand obstacles that liven up its 18 holes. There is a beautiful palace that holds the club-house in the middle of the course, decorated with traditional green tiles and ochre walls. In the club-house there is a restaurant, several terraces and suites facing the Atlas Mountains.

The Golf d’Amelkis is the third most important golf course in Marrakech, and is located on km. 12 on the Route de Ouarzazate. The course comprises 27 holes, with a 72 par and a total length of 6.657 meters. It was created by the landscape architect Cabell B. Robinson and is quite probably the most visually striking course in the city.

The round is rather technique, possibly the most technique among the three golf courses in Marrakech, and enjoys numerous bunkers and artificial lakes. There are very few trees along the course, just a few palm trees here and there, but it has a nice atmosphere that seduces and challenges golfers of all levels.

The course is stimulatingly challenging, quite hilly, dented, with multiple blind starts, pitfalls to be avoided at every hole and 7 lakes judiciously laid out, as well as picturesque bunkers made of crushed red bricks. There are three rounds with a total of 27 holes, although there is a project for an extension of 9 holes, which will result in a total of 36 holes. The Blue round is 3.156 meters long, the Red round 3.141 meters, and the Green round, 3.170 meters.

Your holidays in Marrakech will be even more exciting and pleasant if you experience the chance to ski that the city offers. Most hotels in Marrakech will help you plan your golfing to the last detail.

You can also stay in a wonderful Marrakech riad or Marrakech villa right next to one of the three golf courses and thus make the most of your holidays in the Ochre City.

The Isles of Scilly is located off the southwest tip of the Cornish peninsula of Great Britain. The area has been designated one of outstanding natural beauty. The Isles have a great climate. Because of this, they grow amazing flowers, including many daffodils.

As you might have guessed, the Isle of Scilly is very popular among tourists. However, many people who visit actually come from UK or Europe. The Isle actually produces 85 percent of its income off the people who visit. People want to come because the environment is so favourable. It basically has an extended summer and the culture is definitely more relaxed. When you do visit, you can travel through The Isle easily using the transport links.

Once you get to the Island of Scilly, what are you going to do? Think of it like a retreat from reality. Many people like to fish and boat on Silly’s beautiful waters. However, some people prefer to just relax in the sun. The island definitely holds so much beauty. You will want to spend some time and see it. Walk around and explore. You will see the beautiful flowers and coastline. It will amaze you and you might consider relocating permanently to the island.

Australian Holidays

Australian Holidays

So, you are thinking about taking an Australian vacation or holiday?

Australia is a fantastic country offering something for everyone. It has plenty of sunshine, amazing beaches, an outback landscape that is stunning and of course some great cities and the Great Barrier Reef.

Australian holidays can be anything you want them to be. But make sure you do some careful planning. Don’t underestimate the size of Australia which makes getting around difficult if you rely solely on a car or campervan. You will need to combine it with some air travel.

Take some advice from a local who has been there, seen it and done it! Plan your trip in sync with the Australian Weather. The good news is that it doesn’t matter when you travel, there is always somewhere in Australia that is hot (or cold!)

If you like the sunshine, then most of Australia is hot from October to March. For most Australian destinations, this is the best time to visit.

The top end of Australia (anything north of and including Cairns and Broome) has two seasons – the wet and the dry. The dry season is the time when you want to go. It’s just not a good idea to go in the wet as roads and attractions are often closed due to flooding. There is one exception to this though. You shouldn’t be put off going to the Great Barrier Reef. It might rain a bit on your way out to the reef and the boat trip could be a bit rocky but its definitely worth it.

If the usual tourist trail of the East coast isn’t really floating your boat, then head to the top end of Australia. Here you can experience some fantastic outback adventures and appreciate the stunning scenery and bird life in the nearby national parks of Kakadu and Litchfield. This area is steeped in traditional aboriginal culture -a must see area if you want to get to know the aboriginal Australia.

Australia holidays need at least 3 weeks to be enjoyed. Anything shorter will feel very rushed. Perhaps you are one of the lucky ones and have a few months to explore Australia. If so, Australia has heaps to on offer.

However long you have, try to incorporate an outback experience, at least one city and some beach/coast. That way, you will get a real feel for what Australia is all about.

I personally recommend the following places, especially if this is your first time here. Yes, some of them are very touristy but you can’t come to Oz and not do them.

Sydney – There’s more to it than the bridge and opera house but they are particularly stunning and deserve a visit.
Melbourne – a total contrast to Sydney with its great shopping and tiny lanes to explore.
Ayers Rock – a truly memorable aboriginal experience – even spiritual!
Kangaroo Island – the place to see animals in their natural environment
Jervis Bay – Amazing beaches. You’ll think you are in paradise.
The Barrier Reef – Come and see the fishes and maybe even learn to dive.

Come on – what are you waiting for!
